STREETLIGHTS RESIDENTIAL AWARDED WITH D MAGAZINE HIGH RISE MULTIFAMILY DEAL OF THE YEAR
October 1, 2016 | DALLAS, TX - It’s only been five years since StreetLights Residential opened for business, but the apartment developer has already had a big impact on the North Texas market, with projects that stretch from downtown Dallas to Frisco.
Led by co-founders Doug Chesnut, CEO, and Tom Bakewell, president of development, the company is known for its boutique hotel-like projects and its mission to have a positive, long-lasting impact on the neighborhoods in which it builds. StreetLights also has a bold streak to it, and one of its latest developments, The Case Building, is a good example of that. The 17-story tower at Main and Hall streets in Dallas is the first high-rise in Deep Ellum. As with their other projects, Bakewell says he and Chesnut aim to “build something unique that will fit the neighborhood and become an asset long-term.” StreetLights, which has grown to more than 120 employees, controls quality by keeping design, development, and construction operations in-house. Bakewell says he and Chesnut strive to “anticipate growth and stay on top of it, while keeping people as our most valuable asset.” —Olivia Nguyen
